Sportswear brand New Balance has unveiled its first campaign with Manchester City and England star Raheem Sterling – after revealing a new fresh deal with him earlier this week.
The spot – entitled ‘Done Just Talking’ – will initially run across TV in North America around the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday 29th May, where Sterling’s Man City team take on Chelsea in an all-English affair.
“Raheem Sterling is recognized across the world as a leader both on and off the pitch and this is the start of a truly special partnership,” said Nicola Jones, Global Senior Marketing Manager for Football at New Balance.
“‘Done Just Talking’ is about showing our shared ambition and passion for taking actions to drive a real difference in football and beyond and it sets our intentions for what we will drive to achieve together. We’re very excited to kick this partnership off in such a unique way.”
The campaign was developed by Ear to the Ground – shortlisted for Agency of the Year at the Sport Industry Awards 2021 – who, in partnership with mentoring charity ReachOut, invited a group of 15-19 year old aspiring creatives to experience life on set.
“Players are becoming aware of their platform and the power they have to enact change,” added Richard Adelsberg, MD at Ear to the Ground. “With the right brand on board, those efforts can be amplified to make an impact on a global scale. Fan Intelligence helped us tell Raheem’s story in a credible way with a launch moment that begins to back what really matters to him. It’s the perfect fit for New Balance, as a ‘Fearlessly Independent’ brand.”
