New Balance Football has launched its Blackout Squad competition for a second year.

Following on from last year’s competition, New Balance Football will be offering amateur players around the globe the chance to become a part of a group trialling New Balance Football boots and apparel.

Competition winners will be the first members of the public to get their hands on New Balance boots, with the brand’s ambassadors encouraging fans to sign up.

To earn a place on the Blackout Squad, applicants will be challenged in different ways dependent on the geographical location of their entry. These regions include the UK, USA, Spain, France, Germany, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to the regional initiatives, there will also be a global competition that can be entered via social media channels.

Those chosen as part of the squad will receive new product drops throughout the 2016/17 season before they go on sale.

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey said: “It’s been great to see lots of young aspiring footballers involved in the Blackout Squad, and I reckon this year the competition will be stronger than ever. It’s a great chance to win an unbelievable prize.”

Valencia CF’s Álvaro Negredo added: “This really is a unique prize that I think will interest a lot of players. Getting the chance to trial boots before anyone else is really cool. I have been playing professionally for many years but I can tell you that when I receive new boots it still gives me the same buzz as it did when I was starting out. The competition this year is for strikers, I can’t wait to see the entries and welcome the winners to the squad.”
