Coca-Cola Championship club Newcastle United has signed a shirt sponsorship agreement with Northern Rock plc, the new bank formed following the successful restructure of Northern Rock, the club’s current sponsor.

The new contract will begin at the start of the 2010/11 football season and is believed to be worth over £10m to the club, phased over four years.

The Northern Rock logo has appeared on the club’s shirt since 2004 and will continue to do so until 2014.

Northern Rock’s existing contract with the club expires at the end of the season.

In February 2008 the bank was taken into state ownership but the restructure, which was confirmed on 1st January 2010, has seen the bank split into two – Northern Rock plc, and an asset company, Northern Rock (Asset Management) plc.
