News UK has agreed a deal with ITV to allow readers of its titles – including The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times – early access to the final stages of this season’s FA Cup action.
News UK secured FA Cup clips in a four-year deal starting from the 2014/15 season, earlier this year.
Now, under a sub-licensing deal with ITV, subscribers to News UK’s titles will be able to access clips via their smart phone, tablets and PCs from 4th January 2014. That weekend marks the third round of the competition, where Barclays Premier League clubs join teams from lower leagues in the third round draw.
The third round draw features a number of all Premier League-clashes, where Arsenal host local rivals Tottenham at Emirates Stadium, Swansea City travel to Manchester United and Cardiff City visit Newcastle United.
News UK chief executive, Mike Darcey said of the deal: ‘This deal enhances our sports bundle for readers and furthers our ambition to be the obvious choice of news brand for sports fans. Compelling content is at the heart of the distinct offering which will help News UK deliver its goal of securing a sustainable future for our world-class journalism.’
‘This partnership proves that long-standing, popular and respected newspaper brands can complement the service offered by our national sports TV broadcasters, ensuring a greater offering for sports fans than ever before.’
