Italian lifestyle brand Police has confirmed Barcelona and Brazil player, Neymar Jr, as the new Global Brand Ambassador for 2014 ahead of a World Cup year in the striker’s home country. The 21 year-old follows in the footsteps of past Police ambassadors including Bruce Willis, George Clooney, David Beckham and Antonio Banderas.

Neymar Jr’s partnership with Police, negotiated by Doyen, will kick off with a campaign to showcase the player modelling Police’s new eyewear collection – shot by world renowned photographer, Rankin.

The deal comes during Neymar’s best form since joining Barcelona. Following a Champions League hat-trick against Celtic on Wednesday, the striker made it five goals in four days with a brace against Villarreal in the league on Saturday.

Ennio De Rigo, President of the eyewear company De Rigo Vision Spa that own Police said of the relationship: ‘We are very proud about this new and exciting collaboration with Neymar Jr. As a young, passionate and talented star in his field; he embodies the Police DNA like no other with his maverick style.’

Neymar Jr added: ‘It’s a pleasure and an honour for me to be the new global ambassador for Police. I like very much their style and the glasses are the types that I use. The photoshoot was very nice and I hope we have success with a family run business.’

Neymar agreed an image rights partnership with Doyen Groupformed by two former Executives at XIX Entertainment and Creative Artists Agency, Simon Oliveira and Matthew Kay – earlier this year.
