Melissa Brown has joined the National Football League’s (NFL) London office to take responsibility for further growing the league’s commercial performance in the UK.
A sales and marketing executive with more than 15 years’ experience in the entertainment industry, Melissa joins the NFLUK office as vice-president of commercial partnerships following a stint at Syco Entertainment, where for six years she was commercial director responsible for building brand partnerships for The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
Among the deals she secured around The X Factor were multi-brand partnerships with Unilever and Reckitt Benckiser and partnerships with TRESemmé and Thorntons chocolates.
“I’m thrilled to have joined the NFL team in London at such an exciting and pivotal time as we look to grow the sport in the UK even further,” said Melissa. “Hosting three games in London in 2016 for the third straight year and expanding to play in new stadia really cements us in the British sporting calendar.
“I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic team at the NFL and our partners to grow the opportunities for brands to be involved with this dynamic sport.
Melissa, who previously held positions at Celador and ITV, will oversee a six-strong team in the areas of sponsorship and consumer products and report to NFLUK managing director Alistair Kirkwood.
