Glenn Lovett has been appointed as the sole global managing director of Nielsen Sports who, in his new role at the organisation, will now lead on all aspects of the global sports business.
The promotion comes as Danny Townsend, formerly global co-managing director alongside Lovett, takes on a new challenge as CEO of Sydney FC.
Townsend will remain with Nielsen Sports as a full-time employee through to 6th October, and will be an advisor to the business through the end of the year.
Nielsen Sports has experienced growth since the integration of Repucom in 2016, and has recently acquired the artificial intelligence start up vBrand, launched the Nielsen Esports business vertical, and expanded with the addition of data, insights and consulting services in emerging, global markets.
Lovett played a pivotal role in the development of the strategic growth plans for Nielsen Sports. Before joining Nielsen, Lovett served as global president of strategy for Repucom, and was also managing director – Europe, Middle East and India – at Octagon.
According to the organisation, Nielsen Sports intends to announce additional promotions later this year.
