Nike has announced it has extended its long-term sponsorship deal with footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Real Madrid and Portugal player has had a contract with Nike since his teenage years in 2003 and the new deal comes a day after Real Madrid confirmed a five-year extension of the striker’s contract – worth around £365,000 a week after tax – to stay with the club until June 2021.

Since signing his original deal, Ronaldo has given feedback and insights to help Nike’s design team on numerous products, including the Mercurial Superfly he wears.

Ronald said: “I have a great relationship with this brand, I have great friends here in the company. We work as a family too. This is my brand.”
