The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has announced a four-year extension of its sponsorship agreement with Nike, which will see the sports brand step up from official supplier status to become an official partner of all levels of British tennis.
The new deal, which takes effect in January, also results in Nike taking title sponsorship of a number of elite junior tournaments in Britain, including the LTA-run ITF Junior Internationals, the British Junior National Championships and the Winter National Tour Finals, while the LTA will continue to oversee the delivery of the Nike Junior Tour in the UK.
Nike, who joined the LTA’s commercial programme in December 2009, will supply official team kit for all junior and senior GB national teams, including the Aegon GB Davis Cup and Fed Cup Teams, whilst also providing clothing and footwear to all LTA performance coaching staff.
The LTA’s commercial director Lawrence Robertson said in a statement: ‘It’s such a strong endorsement of an organisation when a brand of Nike’s calibre chooses to work with you.’
‘We take great pride in working closely with the team at Nike and our new deal will see their involvement deepen across junior tennis in the UK, both in terms of competition and involvement in our grassroots programmes.’
