Nike is replacing its Run London event with Nike+ Supersonic – a promotional
event aimed at Londoners that will combine the brand’s involvement in both
running and music.
Whilst the bulk of Nike’s marketing budget this year is being put behind an
urban football project which will replace Run London as the main emphasis of the
brand’s UK activity, Nike+ Supersonic will ensure that Londoners are still
catered for despite the loss of the highly successful Run London event.
The multi-million pound initiative will see Londoners invited to compete to
win entry to the Nike+ Supersonic event via a series of four weekly 100m speed
trials.
The fastest 1000 competitors will then qualify to take part in the Nike+
Supersonic finale – a 1km race followed by a one-off music concert on 17
November.
These 1000 competitors will receive a Nike-branded race pack comprising an
iPod Nano, Nike+ Sport kit and limited edition Nike Zoom Jasari trainers.
The initiative has been designed by Nike’s web agency AKQA who have created a
branded web portal for consumers to register through.
