Japanese photography brand Nikon Corporation has announced its official patronage of The 150th Open which takes place from July 10th to July 17th 2022 in St Andrews, Scotland.
Under terms of the agreement, Nikon branding will be present around the course during the Championship and the official photographers will take images with Nikon cameras. In addition, for the professional photographers covering this event, Nikon Professional Services (NPS) will set up a service depot to offer support and services, including equipment inspections, cleaning, minor repairs, and the loan of equipment.
Nikon has also recently become a patron of the AIG Women’s Open, as it continues to champion equality and diversity in sport.
Nikon already has a presence within sport, most notably as the official co-sponsor of Turkish football team Galatasaray SK. The company also has a high-profile sponsorship deal as official camera of Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
The Open returns this week during a controversial time for golf amid the launching of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series. The R&A has not invited former professional golfer and LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman to compete in the Celebration of Champions or attend the Champions’ Dinner before the 150th Open at St Andrews. However, LIV players who qualified will be allowed to compete at St Andrews.
