The North Face has moved into the training-wear sector by launching a new ‘Mountain Athletics’ range, as part of its plans for 2016, which also includes developments in athlete expeditions and events across Europe.
Mountain Athletics is an outdoor training concept featuring high-performance clothing, exercise programmes and an app to help outdoor explorers train.
According to the brand, the range will use trademarked technology, FlashDry-XD, while the free Mountain Athletics app offers activity-specific workouts in the form of athlete-led tutorial videos.
Alongside this, The North Face has revealed the next generation of the Ultra Series – a collection of trail running, and hiking footwear.

2016 will also see The North Face give city-based explorers the chance to set their outdoor goal and get prepared for it with Mountain Athletics workouts in selected stores in London, Munich, Paris, and across Europe. The weekly sessions starting in February will be led by both adventure and fitness experts.
The North Face continues to work with a group of outdoor athletes, and this year welcomes big mountain snowboarders Estelle Balet (Switzerland) and Victor De Le Rue (France).

Darren Cookson, vice president of product at The North Face EMEA, commented: “Both the new Mountain Athletics collection and latest Ultra Series products aim to give an extra boost to outdoor explorers around the world. Whether it’s training to reach a goal, or putting in that extra mile on the trail, our products are there to take athletes and outdoor enthusiasts further.”
