In the wake of England’s Ashes series victory over Australia, Test match sponsors npower have renewed their deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board for a further two years.
The energy supplier has been title sponsors of domestic Test matches since 2001 and will extend their relationship until 2011 at the earliest.
As part of the new contract, the firm also has an option to extend the period by a further two years, which would incorporate the 2013 Ashes series.
Kevin Miles, chief executive of npower retail, said: ‘We’re delighted to announce our continued sponsorship of Test cricket: to be at the heart of the game for eleven years is something we can be extremely proud of.
‘Test cricket – and particularly the current npower Ashes Series – continues to capture the public’s imagination and we’re thrilled to be involved.’
As part of the new arrangement, two more cricket facilities will be built in major conurbations across the UK.
Under its Urban Cricket campaign, npower has already constructed five of the centres, which provide children with a safe environment in which to learn the sport.
