National Student Esports (NSE), Intel, and ESL – the world’s largest esports company – have teamed up to launch the Intel FutureGen programme, aimed at identifying emerging esports talent among students at UK universities.

The programme, which will officially open for applicants on Friday 27th September will offer ten students the opportunity to gain invaluable experience with industry figures, as well as unparalleled access to the great and good of esports.

The application process consists of a written application and short video, with a panel of industry experts set to decide the final cohort during a rigorous and robust judging session.

The successful applicants will also receive critical hands-on experience during NSE and Intel events, climaxing at an ESL esports event. All activities on the programme are designed to fit around existing studies.

Discussing the launch, Heather Dower, Marketing and Communication Manager at ESL, said: “There is an incredible breadth of talent on campuses up and down the country and we are particularly excited to work on the next FutureGen programme with Intel and NSE to harness these skills.

Jon Tilbury, Executive Director at NSE added: “It is a minority of students that graduate with a clear vision of what they want to be doing five, ten, fifteen years in to the future. Through FutureGen, we can help exceptional students explore their future aspirations.”

Last year sole winner TJ Phillips benefited from conducting all social media interviews at EGX 2018 as well as hosting a dedicated esports broadcast for the competition.
