The Premier League Schools Tournament Final, which has seen a record 8,000 young people from around 1,000 schools take part, will kick off this year’s event at Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium.
The final is a product of the winners from four regional finals that had been pulled together from tournaments held by each Barclays Premier League club for schools in their area.
Eight teams will play in the final, all who will get to use the Premier League champions’ team dressing rooms, run out on to the pitch through the tunnel and have their matches officiated by top referees Howard Webb, Mark Halsey, Mark Clattenburg and Phil Dowd.
All of the young kids taking part receive sports equipment from Nike.
The Under 11 mixed teams include Wigan Athletic (RL Hughes School), Aston Villa (Dorridge School), Stoke City (Langdale Primary School), Hull City (Appleton Primary School), Bolton Wanderers (St Peter’s Smithills Dean Primary School), Chelsea (Honeywell Primary School), Fulham (St. Bernadette Catholic Junior School), and Manchester City (Christ the King School).
The Under 13 Girls teams that qualified for the final include Newcastle United (Durham Johnston Lower School), Middlesbrough (Laurence Jackson School), Aston Villa, (St Peter’s School), Fulham (Ursuline Girls School), Arsenal (Parliament Hill School), Blackburn Rovers (Longridge High School), Liverpool (St Julie’s High School), and Wigan Athletic (St John Fisher School).
