The Olympic Channel has announced a co-operation agreement with FIFA, who becomes the 36th international federation to partner with the channel.
As part of the deal, FIFA will provide news access and content licenses to the Olympic Channel to promote football as an Olympic sport.
FIFA has become the latest partner, following October’s announcement that six international federations had also joined the channel. Only four international federations involved in the summer Olympic Games have yet to agree a deal, including the International Association of Athletics (IAAF).
The Olympic Channel was launched in August as part of the International Olympic Committees (IOC) agenda 2020 reform process.
Mark Parkman, general manager, Olympic Channel said: “Football is one the most popular sports on the planet, and we are excited to work together with FIFA to amplify the excitement of football at the Olympic Games as well as emphasise the deeply rooted cultural aspects of ‘the beautiful game’ through the Olympic Channel.”
