Olympus, the producer of action cameras, has announced a new partnership with GB Freestyle Skier, X Games gold medallist and former world number one, James ‘Woodsy’ Woods.

Woods, who is also a top GB Winter Olympic gold medal prospect, originally learned his trade on the dry slopes in Sheffield before rising to the top of the international scene, winning the World Cup Series in the 2012/13 season, becoming world number one, and winning an X Games gold medal earlier this year.

As part of the new agreement with Olympus, the 25 year-old will create regular video content in the lead up to the Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

Woods stated: “I’ve always been a big fan of Olympus Tough Series and I’m excited to be one of the main ambassadors to launch the new TG-5. I’ve always loved showing the world how amazing our sport is and what we are capable of, so I’m excited to work with Olympus and highlight my journey to the Winter Olympics next year.”

Olympus marketing manager, Georgina Pavelin, added: “We were thrilled when James contacted us to collaborate; the Tough cameras are ideal to capture extreme sports as they are designed for harsh environments. We can’t wait to see what James creates and are pleased to promote his journey and support him sharing this with fans. James is one of the first to test the new TG-5 so the partnership was well timed for the launch, he is also working with the TG Tracker to capture videos on the go.”
