In one week today, on Thursday 26th September, the Nolan Partners Sport Industry Breakfast Club will welcome expert opinion from both sides of the pond as Ian Ayre, managing director of Liverpool FC is joined by Mark Wilf, owner and president of the Minnesota Vikings, at Bloomberg’s stunning central London headquarters.
It’s been 23 years since Liverpool won the top flight of English football but at this point in time they sit top of the table with a winnable game at home to Southampton this weekend, while the women’s team is also dominating their league.
Ayre will offer his insight on the club’s current form, the re-building process underway and the challenges and opportunities that come with managing one of the world’s most iconic teams both on and off the pitch.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings have fared slightly worse in their start to the NFL season, with the team yet to find a win in this year’s campaign.
Owner Mark Wilf will give his perspective on running a club in the most lucrative sport league in the world, offering his view on the commercial strategies in the complex US sport industry and his plan for securing that elusive Super Bowl following four losses at the world’s biggest sporting spectacle.
Next week’s international Breakfast is followed by a Best of British panel, that will see senior figures from major international events coming to these shores in the next few years.
The panel, on 6th November, will feature Brian Barwick, Chairman of the Rugby Football League and former CEO of the Football Association; David Grevemberg, CEO of Glasgow 2014; Debbie Jevans, CEO of England Rugby 2015 and former Director of Sport for London 2012; and Ed Warner, Chairman of UK Athletics.
