SweetSpot, which organises the Tour of Britain and Women’s Tour cycling races, has appointed OnePlan as the official event-planning supplier for 2022.
The deal with OnePlan – which combines computer-aided design with the latest mapping technology, allowing organisers to design and manage their events – covers the Tour of Britain, Women’s Tour and Tour Series events.
The software will be used to transform the planning of stage starts and finishes by enhancing rider safety and improving the experiences for spectators and host venues alike. Under the partnership, SweetSpot will also showcase the product’s capabilities to key race stakeholders.
SweetSpot’s Route Director, Andy Hawes, said, “We are really excited to be working in partnership with OnePlan this year and helping them develop a cycling specific package to add to their already successful event platform.
“Working with OnePlan will enhance the information we are able to share with our stakeholders and will provide a much clearer picture of where all the event infrastructure will be placed on the day, not just at the starts and finishes, but also along the route. As OnePlan continues to develop, we hope it will be the go-to platform for all event organisers, not just sporting events.”
SweetSpot joins the likes of World Triathlon, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and Silverstone in working with OnePlan.
OnePlan will also develop a case study about the use of the platform for the Tour of Britain and Women’s Tour.
OnePlan CEO, Paul Foster, added, “These elite events will benefit from the centimetre accuracy planning in OnePlan, improving event safety and the spectator experience. As cycling continues to grow in the UK, we’re excited to see how all types of cycling events will benefit from OnePlan’s easy-to-use platform.”
The Women’s Tour will take place from 6th-11th June before the Tour of Britain runs from 4th-11th September.
