Wearable tech startup company Orbi has reached its $75,000 fundraising target and will begin production on the Orbi Prime: the first 360-degree video recording eyewear in 4K resolution.
The company was founded by a team of hardware and software engineers from institutions such as MIT, UC Berkeley, and Electronic Arts, as well as, photographers, videographers amongst others.
Acting as a normal pair of sunglasses, Orbi Prime has 4K resolution (1080p), and a 360-degree video capture ability and provides an eye-level POV. The glasses also have a 90-minute recording time and are water resistant.
The Orbi Prime also uses electronic image stabilization, along with post-processing stabilization dependent on the captured motion data.
After securing its original goal, Orbi has now set its sights on a $300,000 target in order to upgrade hardware upgrade, $500,000 for video editing improvements, and $750,000 for software upgrades for the Orbi Prime.
The glasses are available for pre-sale on indiegogo’s website, and have an expected release of August 2017.
