Outdoor footwear brand, Merrell, has announced a new partnership with Our Parks, an organisation that hosts free and affordable, group exercise classes at parks across Greater London and surrounding counties.
Our Parks’ Turn Up Tone Up was named Community Programme of the Year in association with The Supporters Club at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2017 last month.

As part of the new agreement, Merrell and Our Parks will work together to encourage people to use ‘nature’s gym’ in order to improve health and fitness levels for all, as well as bring a sense of pleasure and play to outdoor activity.
The joint initiative will aim to increase participation and awareness of the scheme as it expands throughout the London boroughs and beyond.
Hugh Sweeney, marketing manager at Merrell UK said: “The partnership with Our Parks is a natural fit for Merrell as it allows the brand to help support and encourage outdoor exercise at a grassroots level. Our Parks is a fantastic initiative that brings Merrell’s ‘nature’s gym’ philosophy to life.
“We’re very excited to help grow participation of Our Parks’ exercise classes and inspire people to get outside and get active in the great outdoors.”

Launched in 2014, Our Parks works with councils and development agencies to offer quality group outdoor exercise programmes for users (parkers) in local parks and community settings for free or low cost.
To get involved, users can register on the Our Parks website or download the app to book onto classes that are delivered by over 200 highly qualified coaches.

Born Barikor, founder of Our Parks added: “We are delighted to welcome Merrell on board and to be aligning our brand with one that shares so closely our mission of getting people fit and active in outdoor spaces. As the interest and understanding of the important role outdoor exercise plays on health and wellbeing continues to grow, we consider this partnership a vital step forward towards making our nation more active.
“Our aim is to get 100,000 parkers exercising weekly for free by 2018 and I’m sure Merrell is the right sponsor to help us achieve this. Free fitness is at the heart of Our Parks and we want to provide the masses with access to professionally led fitness classes 365 days a year.”
