Paddy Power has unveiled its first foray into air travel with the unveiling a unique hot air balloon specially modeled on a pair of the bookmaker’s ‘lucky pants’ at Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday.
‘Paddy Pant 1’ made its debut in front of racing punters on the second day of the annual festival during the 1:30pm John Oaksey National Hunt Chase.
Standing 63ft high and 60ft wide, Paddy Power’s lucky pants have gained cult status when out of favour former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner scored for Denmark against Portugal in Euro 2012, before pulling his shorts down to reveal the ambush design.
Using over 3,600 square feet of material, the bespoke aircraft took a team of top engineers six months to make. The balloon holds 115,000 cubic feet of air, contains 63 miles of thread and boats a waistband of 2,260 inches.
Paddy Power’s ‘We Hear You’ campaign saw the bookmaker’s work recognised with two shortlistings at the BT Sport Industry Awards on 2nd May, including the coveted Brand of the Year, sponsored by Pinsent Masons, category. Check out the full shortlist, and book you place here.
Further flights are forecast at other major sporting events throughout the year and sport fans are being offered the chance to board the pants in a unique flight that’s promised to be ‘the best seat in the house’ via @PaddyPower and their Facebook page.
