Live coverage of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will air on YouTube, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced.
The Paralympic YouTube channel will stream almost 1,400 hours of live broadcast content across all 22 Paralympic sports throughout the games, which will take place between 28th August and 8th September.
The agreement is intended to generate greater exposure for the Summer Paralympics, with the channel set to provide live content, as well as replays, highlights, creator content and athlete features.
Content on the YouTube channel will be freely accessible for users across 175 territories internationally.
Users will be able to access YouTube’s Multiview player, allowing them to simultaneously watch up to four streams from the Paralympics. This was recently used at this summer’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The IPC will additionally produce around 400 YouTube Shorts videos throughout the Games, which will aim to capture some of the greatest sporting moments, as well as up to 40 athlete feature films.
“By teaming up with YouTube for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, we will maximise the worldwide reach of the most transformational sport event on this planet, engaging new audiences in the performances of Paralympians,” said Mike Peters, CEO of the IPC.
“In terms of coverage, Paris 2024 will be the most accessible Paralympic Games in history.
“The Multiview player has been a tremendous success in the US, and the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be a game-changer, making it the first time Multiview player is available globally and will captivate viewers with a new way to enjoy multiple streams of live sporting action at one time.”
Pedro Pina, Vice President of YouTube Europe, Middle East and Africa, added, “During the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, YouTube will turn into the global stage for the unsung heroes and heroines of the Games for everyone to celebrate them and be inspired by.”
