Liverpool and Chelsea chief executives Rick Parry and Peter Kenyon have been named on the 15-man board of the newly formed European Club Association.

The ECA has been formed to replace the now defunct G14 which represented the views of the elite football clubs in Europe. The new body will look to offer a much wider representation across the continent.

In total, the ECA will have 102 members, including one from each of Europe’s 53 national associations.

Commented Parry: ‘This body has far greater credibility than G14, both with fellow clubs and European football governing body UEFA, because it was always seen as an elite group. Now we have clubs with widely diverging interests.’

Rangers director John McClelland was also elected to the group to represent Scottish football views.
