Pepsi Max has kicked off its World Cup marketing campaign by releasing its football themed music track and video, starring Premier League players and Pepsi brand ambassadors Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba.
The video is being released to compete with official World Cup sponsors Coca-Cola, who have also released an official World Cup song.
Coca-Cola’s global campaign is using a specially commissioned song by Somali hip-hop artist K’naan called ‘Wavin’ Flag’.
Pepsi Max’s charity song, ‘Oh Africa’, is performed by Akon, Keri Hilson and the Soweto Gospel Choir.
In November Pepsi kicked off a competition, planned by Mindshare, to offer members of the public the chance to sing on the track.
The proceeds from the sale of the track will go towards charities, including Akon’s Konfidence Foundation, helping underprivileged African youths.
