The BBC has detailed its coverage plans for the 2019/20 football season, with Peter Crouch, Micah Richards, Tim Cahill and Karen Carney joining the team.

The BBC’s flagship Match of the Day programme will return, with Gary Lineker to present the show for the 20th season. Lineker will be joined by Alan Shearer and Ian Wright for the first show of the season on 10th August.

A new virtual reality studio will also open for BBC football programmes, while brand new TV programme MOTDx will feature the latest on-screen talent. The magazine show will focus on the lifestyle and culture of the Premier League and will feature Chelcee Grimes, Craig Mitch, Reece Parkinson and Liv Cooke alongside regular host Jermaine Jenas.

The BBC will once again cover the FA Cup from qualifying rounds through to the final, while the Women’s Super League and Women’s Football Show will return from 8th September.

BBC Radio 5 Live is also set to cover more live Premier League matches than any other UK broadcaster during the 2019/20 campaign. Other returning pundits will include Jenas, Phil Neville, Alex Scott, Martin Keown, Mark Lawrenson, Danny Murphy, Dion Dublin, Garth Crooks, Kevin Kilbane, Leon Osman and Jon Walters, while Dan Walker, Mark Chapman, Jason Mohammad and Gabby Logan will return as presenters.

The BBC’s Match of the Day, Match of the Day 2, Football Focus and Final Score shows will feature a brand-new look this season through a fully 360-degree virtual studio that will use real-time computer game rendering technology.

All programmes will be based within a ‘BBC Sport football stadium’, which will be used to create fly-through augmented reality graphics including team formations and data-driven analysis graphics.
