GoPro and SkratchTV have partnered with the PGA Tour to follow players on the green, to give a new perspective to fans of golf.
The first person perspective footage will be shot using GoPro cameras, with Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler and Cameron Tringale already taking part in the first few days since launch. In addition, stadium fan cams will also be at the venue providing additional views.
This venture is comparable to similar ideas tested by other professional leagues. The NBA All Star Game has featured four different camera angles including fan voted and backboard cameras in addition to traditional broadcasts. Similarly, players at MLB’s All Star Game have been equipped with GoPros during the home run derby.
The move is seen as a way for golf to grow its popularity with a younger audience and the partnership will include content with SkratchTV host Erik Anders for a new show titled ‘Adventures of Golf’.
The online golf network is created with the PGA Tour and doesn’t require a subscription, with content streamed on a variety of outlets for all three partners, including its websites and apps.
