The PGA TOUR has announced a rescheduled calendar which would see golfers return to competition in June.

The Tour says it had previously targeted the week of the Charles Schwab Challenge (18th-24th May) as the season’s restart date, but has now delayed that timeline three weeks.

It now envisages starting back with the Charles Schwab Challenge on 8th June, and will reposition tournaments between that date and the season’s conclusion – which is due to take place with the TOUR Championship, ending on 7th September.

“The health and safety of all associated with the PGA TOUR and our global community continues to be our No. 1 priority, and our hope is to play a role – responsibly – in the world’s return to enjoying the things we love,” said Jay Monahan, Commissioner, PGA TOUR.

“Today’s announcement is another positive step for our fans and players as we look toward the future, but as we’ve stressed on several occasions, we will resume competition only when – working closely with our tournaments, partners and communities – it is considered safe to do so under the guidance of the leading public health authorities.”

At THE PLAYERS Championship in March, the Tour’s season was suspended indefinitely, while new dates for the sport’s major championships The Masters, the US Open, and the PGA Championship have been announced.

The 2020 Open, which was scheduled to be held at Royal St George’s in Kent, however, has been cancelled and will be staged at the same venue in 2021.
