Pirelli Set To Extend Formula One Deal

Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has agreed, in principal, a three-year extension to partnership with Formula One motor racing.

The deal was announced on Sunday at the Russian Grand Prix and is yet to be ratified by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), but Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone said an agreement was going to be put in place for the 2017-2019 seasons.

Pirelli is Formula One’s exclusive tyre supplier, and has also been title sponsor this season for the Spanish and Hungarian grand prix races.

In a statement, Pirelli Motorsport said: “We can confirm that the commercial deal for 2017-2019 has been reached. The official procedure will follow.”
