England 2015, a subsidiary of the RFU, has called in Pitch for retained work following a four-way tender, with the agency briefed with creating mainstream interest ahead of the Rugby World Cup tournament.

According to media reports, Pitch’s PR work will revolve around key dates, such as this December’s pool draw, with work also likely to focus on maximising interest around a series of high-profile Test matches this autumn.

England will take on four southern hemisphere teams including Australia and South Africa.

Pitch – who also works with Heineken, a sponsor of last year’s Rugby World Cup – previously worked with the RFU in the aftermath of England’s exit from the 2011 tournament in New Zealand.

The news follows a busy week for the RFU, who replaced the chief executive of England 2015 with LOCOG’s director of sport, Debbie Jevans, after Paul Vaughan stepped down by mutual consent last week.
