Pitch Marketing Group has appointed former O2 Head of Sport Sponsorship Rebecca Martin as its new Deputy Managing Director.

Martin joins the sports marketing agency from the telco brand, where she most recently served as Head of The O2. Her appointment coincides with the creation of the Deputy Managing Director role at Pitch Marketing Group, and also marks the latest development in a series of new hires and client wins this year for the agency.

Martin will form a new leadership team for working alongside Pitch’s Managing Director, Chris Allen.

Martin (pictured above with Chris Allen [left], and Pitch Marketing Group Foundig Partner Henry Chappell [centre]) spent four years at O2, and previously held a leadership position at Omnicom’s sponsorship agency Fuse, as well as an in-house role at Barclays within their sponsorship team.

At Pitch, she will head up the agency’s sponsorship division – Pitch Partnerships – whose current clients include brands including cinch, Gallagher, LG and Pokemon.

According to Pitch, Martin will also oversee its ‘continued efforts to create a more balanced and diverse working environment’, heading up its Changemakers programme which was launched in 2020, committing the agency to a number of D&I and mental health initiatives.

She will also be tasked with developing the agency’s brand and recognition in the wider creative marketing industry.

“Following a great first half of the year, and as we start to return to more normal agency life, we are delighted to have appointed Rebecca in what is a crucial hire for our future growth plans,” said Henry Chappell, Founding Partner, Pitch Marketing Group.

“Her in-house experience from O2 will help to enhance the effectiveness of our work, and her previous agency experience will enable the further development of our own agency culture and growth. She has demonstrated a huge passion and ambition for the opportunity at Pitch, and I am sure that together with Chris Allen she will create an inspirational leadership team.”

Martin added: “I’ve long admired Pitch’s creativity and campaigns and have always been impressed by the team’s ambition and ability to punch above their weight when it comes to the scale and calibre of their work.

“I’ve been particularly interested to watch them grow and develop over the last couple of years off the back of some big brand wins, particularly from a partnerships perspective. I’m excited by a return to agency life and our plans as a leadership team to keep up the momentum.”
