Pitchero, an online provider of grassroots sports websites, celebrated reaching 4 million users this week with the launch of a new, free App – reaching more than 7,000 downloads in the first 24 hours to become the second most downloaded free sports application in the iTunes Chart.
Pitchero provides clubs, leagues and county organisations with the tools to build a website, manage their membership and increase their online revenue.
Mark Fletcher, Pitchero CEO, said: ‘Since launching Pitchero in 2007, we have always listened closely to our users so we were really pleased yesterday to fulfil their requests for an App. The response has been fantastic, with not only thousands of downloads but also very positive reviews. We look forward to further expanding Pitchero’s offering, to continue making it easier than ever to enjoy team sports.’
Using the Pitchero App, individual club websites will now load in app format, making life easier for players, parents, coaches and club officials. The App will also offer supporters access to the latest club news and players can confirm availability with a single click.
Fixtures, news and photos can be updated via the application and a 5% commission on any transactions through Pitchero Marketplace will go directly to the club.
As of today, when a club member buys anything, be it a football top, rugby shirt, protein shake or a new pair of boots, via a Pitchero club website, their club will now earn 5% commission on every sale – with the £1m based on the average annual spend per club in the country.
