Pitchero, the UK website provider to the semi-pro amateur sports market, has announced the official launch of Pitchero Marketplace, which will offer a 5% commission to clubs on every purchase, generating an expected £1m for grassroots sport in 2013.

As of today, when a club member buys anything, be it a football top, rugby shirt, protein shake or a new pair of boots, via a Pitchero club website, their club will now earn 5% commission on every sale – with the £1m based on the average annual spend per club in the country.

Pitchero, has partnered with key retailers including Maximuscle, First Aid 4 Sport and Rhino Rugby to integrate this e-commerce feature into the entire Pitchero network of more than 10,000 websites, with a combined total of 4 million unique users every month.

Mark Fletcher, Pitchero CEO, said: ‘Due to the scale of the Pitchero network, we can offer this e-commerce platform free of charge to our users, providing clubs with a steady stream of income.’

‘Marketplace is a hassle-free way for club members, officials and parents to buy equipment while also giving something back to their club, at no additional cost to them! This is a win-win solution that will contribute much needed funds to grassroots sports in the UK.’

Pitchero is a free service that provides sports clubs, leagues and county organisations with the tools to build a website, manage their membership and ultimately increase their online revenue, and earlier this year Fletcher spoke exclusively to sportindustry.biz. Check out the full interview here.

Over the next few months, Pitchero will be announcing further partnerships which will see the arrival of sports equipment including goals, posts, covers and dug-outs to the Marketplace.
