PLAYERTEK, a GPS tracker for an individual footballer, has hired The Playbook for a new influencer and media campaign.

Part of the Catapult Group, PLAYERTEK is a family of sports technology companies and has over 1,250 teams and institutions enhance their athletes’ performances with Catapult products every day. Catapult’s performance technology partnership with the ECB saw the organisation claim the Cutting Edge Sport Awards in association with Sela Sport at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2017.

The Playbook will create a campaign designed to engage and educate social influencers, with ‘PLAYERTEK FC’ team members being gifted product as the new season launches. Traditional media will also be engaged to help raise the profile of PLAYERTEK among serious amateur players, teams and coaches.

PLAYERTEK is a wearable GPS performance tracker that allows players and coaches to track movement and measure physical performance during training and games, including distance covered, positional heat maps, top speed, sprint distance and number of sprints.

It enables users to check their performance against the pros, team mates or anyone else using PLAYERTEK.

Paula Keve, head of communications, Catapult Sports, commented: “I was impressed with The Playbook team’s experience, knowledge and contacts within the world of sports. Their enthusiasm for working with us was clear from the outset, and I’m excited to spread the word about PLAYERTEK amongst our heartland audience in new, innovative ways.”

Eddie May, managing director, The Playbook, said: “PLAYERTEK is a unique product that gives amateur players access to a lot of the performance insights that have previously only been available to the pros. Sports tech and data is an exciting market and we are over the moon to add PLAYERTEK and Catapult to our client portfolio and help create new standards in the game.”
