The majority of the sport industry still believes that Formula One represents a
viable commercial investment for UK businesses according to an exclusive Sportindustry.biz poll.
According to the online survey of the business of sport industry, 46.4% of
respondents still had faith in the power of the motor racing series to deliver
value for money for UK companies.
However, the poll did not prove to be an overwhelming thumbs up for Formula
One with 30.4% voting that such associations no longer held any viability for UK
brands.
The remaining 23.2% of the vote suggested that UK investment in the sport
would only prove viable if a UK driver enjoys some on-track success.
Formula One has endured a tough period in terms of its popularity in the UK
with viewing figures for the sport dwindling. The decline has led to the British
Grand Prix at Silverstone coming under threat for its place in the calendar.
The only recent bright spot for the sport in this country was Jenson Button’s
debut GP win last season which broke a lengthy duck in terms of any UK success
on the track.
