A group of South African executives is allegedly in the advanced stages of proposing a £70 million deal to buy Portsmouth Football Club.

Media reports have claimed that Greg James, the chief executive of the South Africa-based gold-mining company Central Rand Gold has been in talks with the club’s owner, Alexandre Gaydamak.

The deal would mean a second takeover in less than three years for the FA Cup holders.
