The transfer embargo placed on Premier League club Portsmouth has been lifted after the club has paid off its outstanding debts to other teams.
The ban has been in place since October and earlier this month the Premier League redistributed the club’s TV revenue to help pay off its debts.
The final payment of £3.5m to Serie A club Udinese for the transfer of Sulley Muntari in 2007, meant the embargo can now be lifted.
Portsmouth can now recruit players before the transfer deadline of February 1st, however, they are only allowed to sign players on loan or on a free transfer.
Despite the club now not owing money to any other teams, Portsmouth still have £60m of debt and face a winding up order in the high court on 10th February.
