Lucozade Powerleague has launched Playermatch, a new service for footballers to help players find teams and teams find players, providing a “matching” service for footballers across the country.

According to Powerleague, the new platform is aimed at players who want to start playing football again, but do not know where to look to get a game.

The Playermatch system finds teams for these players by matching them to teams or pitch bookers who live in the same area and who play at their desired time. They can also search for teams/groups of a similar age and standard.

The new platform is also aimed at helping captains, who can search for local players looking for a game when they find themselves short.

Nigel Hargreaves, Lucozade Powerleague, said of the launch: ‘The new Playermatch system will be a huge help for players looking for new teams and also teams looking for new players. It tackles the biggest problems players and teams face which prevent them getting their weekly game of football. We really recommend that footballers and our team captains register on the system and we look forward to welcoming them down to your local Lucozade Powerleague centre for a game really soon.’

‘The new Playermatch system will also help with one of the core objectives of The FA, Sport England and Government of getting more people to play football to encourage a more active and healthy nation.’
