Following a competitive tender, the Rugby Football Union has reappointed PPL Group as the official match programme publisher for Twickenham international programmes and also for those covering other RFU tournaments and competitions for a further five years.
PPL’s first official programme for the RFU was London v New Zealand Army at White City on 22nd December 1945, when the New Zealand team was drawn from servicemen based in Europe.
Their first international match programme was produced for England v South Africa on 5th January 1952 and the company has continued to provide the official match programmes ever since.
PPL Group also provides publishing, signage and event solutions to sporting events such as The Open and Wimbledon.
Paul Kimberley, PPL’s sales and marketing director, said: ‘We are delighted to continue our strong partnership with the RFU and look forward to collaborating on the next phase of the match programme’s development.’
RFU chief commercial officer, Sophie Goldschmidt, added: ‘We are delighted to be extending our relationship with PPL. We want to be dynamic and provide the best product available to our fans and PPL demonstrated they would be able to deliver this in print and digitally. Extending the existing relationship to satisfy demand and provide exciting new formats was a logical next step and there will be a new look match programme for this autumn’s QBE Internationals.’
