Premier League Considers Switching Title Clash

The Premier League is considering switching the fixture between Manchester
United and Chelsea to the final week of the season, should the title race run
that far, in order to meet TV demands for an ‘end-of-season showdown’.

Manchester United are currently scheduled to visit Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge
ground on Saturday, 14 April – a fixture that could decide the outcome of the
race for the Premier League title.

That weekend, however, has also been designated for FA Cup semi-finals and,
if either club make it to that stage, the league game will be postponed until
the final week of the season, with 8 or 9 May the most likely dates.

The Premier League confirmed that such a move is a ‘possibility’ but at the
moment remains dependent not only on United or Chelsea progressing to the last
four of the FA Cup but on them still being within touching distance of each
other in April.
