Premiership Rugby is set to receive free-to-air exposure during the start of the 2015/16 season, with BT Sport to show three games on their Showcase channel.

The free games will feature the opening game of the season on 16th October, when the Worcester Warriors face the Northampton Saints.

The first fixtures will also showcase the four play-off teams from last season, with Northampton against Saracens and Leicester Tigers versus Bath in November.

Dominic Hayes, Premiership Rugby’s commercial director, said: “This is a big day for English club rugby. To see a selection of live Aviva Premiership Rugby matches on a free-to-air channel provides a fantastic shop window for the most compelling league in the world.”

In March, Premiership Rugby agreed a rights deal extension with BT Sport, which takes in the 2017/18 season through to 2020/21, for up to 80 live matches per season.

The extended contract also covers highlights to all Premiership matches as well as live broadcast rights to the Premiership Rugby 7s Series until 2020/21.
