Digital sports media group Premium TV, which owns the online rights to the
Premier League as well as a host of top-flight football clubs, has merged with
content distributor Inform Group with the combined entity to trade under a new
name.
The move comes following a £25m buyout of Premium TV by Russian billionaire
Len Blavatnik from previous owners Quest Turnaround Advisors.
Premium TV brings in over £30m in commercial revenue for its raft of sports
clients, including Premier League club Chelsea, from the exploitation of digital
media rights.
The newly formed entity with Inform Group will see Premium TV’s array of
assets merged with that of its new partner with all staff and management to be
retained and the new company to be led by the combined management teams and
Blavatnik’s industrial group Access Industries.
The new business will boast an impressive client roster, including The
Football Association, Scottish Premier League, England & Wales Cricket
Board, Cricket Australia, BSkyB, ITV and William Hill.
Premium TV was initially established by NTL, now itself merged as part of
Virgin Media, with the sole aim of accessing the lucrative media rights to some
of the Premier League top clubs.
