Clifford French has been appointed by Puma to advise the apparel and footwear brand on an integrated UK and Ireland football communications strategy, following a competitive three-way pitch.
The retained brief sees the sport and entertainment communications agency tasked with connecting Puma’s roster of global talent and clubs with the brand’s core consumer – the young grassroots footballer.
Current Puma football ambassadors include Manchester City stars Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure, who wear Puma evoSPEED and Puma King boots respectively, and Barcelona playmaker Cesc Fabregas who steps out in Puma PowerCat. Puma is also the official kit supplier to Newcastle United and Reading in the Barclay’s Premier League.
Roger Harrison, Puma UK & Benelux marketing director, said: ‘Clifford French has quickly solidified a reputation as one of the leading football agencies in the UK market. We were very impressed with their approach to our brief and believe their network of strategic partners across the football landscape will add considerable value to our business.’
Clifford French is an integrated and independent sport and entertainment communications agency specialising in PR, talent management, digital and sponsorship activation, and Puma will join a growing roster of clients including video game giants, EA SPORTS.
Dan French, co-founder of Clifford French, added: ‘Clifford French and Puma share very similar brand values so we’re extremely excited about helping to shape and deliver its football strategy throughout the coming seasons. Puma has long been synonymous with some of the world’s greatest footballing moments and we look forward to helping them continue that story.’
