Puma Gets Set For Great North City Games

Puma has announced an extension of its partnership with Nova International, becoming the title sponsor of the Great North City Games, which will take place in Newcastle on Saturday.

This announcement represents a further milestone in Puma’s performance strategy for the United Kingdom, Ireland and Benelux, building on its new brand mission – to become the Fastest Sport Brand in the World. 

Paul Spencer, general manager Puma UK, Ireland and Benelux, commented: ‘This extension of our current partnership with Nova International is extremely important and will further increase our presence in Newcastle on such a significant sporting weekend. Puma has a strong heritage in Running and we are proud to underpin our performance credentials through becoming the headline sponsor of the PUMA Great North City Games.’

The event, which began in 2009, attracts crowds of over 25,000 and is free to spectate.

The event features an IAAF certified four lane sprint track as well as long jump and pole vault facilities staged on a purpose built athletics arena at the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside.

This year, stars of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will compete against some of the most recognisable names in athletics from across the globe, those already confirmed include; Puma athlete and European Championship Gold medalist Eilidh Child, Olympic, Commonwealth and European Champion long jumper Greg Rutherford and World indoor 60m record holder, Commonwealth Games Silver medallist and European Championship Gold medallist, sprinter Richard Kilty.  

The Puma Great North CityGames will be broadcast on BBC1 on Saturday 6th September.
