Sportswear brand Puma has signed a three season kit sponsorship deal extension with Bath Rugby starting from 2010/2011 season.

The deal with the Guinness Premiership club will continue to see Puma supply playing and training kit to the team and replica products to the Bath Rugby shop and to Puma customers in the sports trade.

Puma’s extension of its contract with Bath Rugby comes at a time when the rugby kit market has been thrown wide open with the collapse into administration of the European arm of Canterbury.

While Canterbury has been saved by JD Sports, its position of strength in the rugby market is likely to be threatened by some of the bigger global sportswear brands such as Puma.

Puma’s existing Sport Performance and Lifestyle labels cover categories such as Football, Running, Motorsports, Golf and Sailing. The firm, which was founded in 1948, distributes its products in more than 120 countries, employs more than 9,000 people worldwide and has headquarters in Herzogenaurach/Germany, Boston, London and Hong Kong.
