The Racing Post streamed
the Grand National live and free to users of its relaunched video website.

The website was sponsored by Betfair and carried extensive video feature
material in the build-up to the race, including a horse-by-horse form guide,
news bulletins and a tipsters’ forum.

Content is derived from the Racing Post’s news service and form
database,
along with footage from its joint venture partner Racing UK,
which manages
the media rights for 30 UK racecourses, including Aintree.

To entice punters, the paper placed a fantasy racing game on the
site,
offering the chance to win £10,000.

Ian Heaney, digital director of the Racing Post, said: “Being able
to
stream the Grand National free is a big plus for us and an
excellent
service for our users, particularly those stuck in front of a PC at
work
on Saturday. And the videos of our tipsters analysing major races are
a
really convenient way for the once-a-year punter to make an
informed
selection.”
