Championship club Queens Park Rangers have confirmed a new kit supply deal with Nike, which will see the US sports brand replace Lotto Sport Italia from the start of next season.

The agreement will see Nike become the new technical partner of the club – who were relegated from the Premier League after two seasons in the top-flight last year – covering all playing and training wear, along with other club-branded apparel.

The club, owned by Group CEO of Air Asia, Tony Fernandes, renewed their kit supply deal with Lotto in 2008, but it was confirmed on Monday that Nike will step in as Rangers’ technical partner from the 2014/15 season onwards.

Financial terms of the agreement, which runs until May 2019, were not released although media reports suggest that the contract could be worth as much as £45 million in total.

‘We are delighted to be entering into this new and exciting partnership with Nike and look forward to working alongside their team over the next five years. Nike is the leading global sports brand and they are a fantastic brand for us to be associated with,’ said Fernandes.

Philip Beard, the club’s chief executive, added: ‘Nike’s unparalleled research and development capacity, leading global retail distribution networks and award winning marketing capabilities mean that this is a very important step forward in the evolution of the club. We are really looking forward to working together.’

QPR currently sit fourth in the Sky Bet Championship table, comfortably in the play-off places, despite a heavy 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening.
