To celebrate BeatBullying’s 10th Birthday and Anti-Bullying Week, which runs from 19th to 23rd November – Harlequins have announced a partnership with BeatBullying, who will become the rugby club’s chosen charity on Friday 16th November when Harlequins take on Bath Rugby.
According to the club’s official press release, one in three children and young people have been victims of cyberbullying in the UK, with 1 in 13 falling victim of persistent online abuse.
BeatBullying aims to raise awareness of the impact of bullying upon children and young people.
Through the partnership the club hopes to introduce a new audience to the support that CyberMentors provides and raise funds to continue the programme.
BeatBullying volunteers will be collecting funds, while an information point will also be available for advice and information on BeatBullying in the Kings Bar pre-match.
BeatBullying’s director of fundraising, Hannah Scott said: ‘BeatBullying is thrilled to be selected by the Harlequins as their chosen charity, particularly in the run up to Anti-Bullying Week.’
‘Thanks to their support, we will be able to raise awareness of our mission to make bullying unacceptable, and reach even more young people who could be future advocates of BeatBullying’s work.’
Fans can also text QUIN05 to 70070 to donate £3 to BeatBullying.
Harlequins returned to the top of the Aviva Premiership table on Saturday following a 28-25 victory over Gloucester.
First-half tries from Mike Brown, Matt Hopper and Sam Smith gave Quins a 22-12 lead, while Nick Evans kicked three penalties for the home side.
