MoneyGram International have appointed Radar Sponsorship and Hill & Knowlton’s Sports Marketing & Sponsorship division (H&K Sports) to work with them on their high profile sponsorship of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Radar and H&K Sports, based in London and New York respectively, were appointed to provide strategic consultancy and in-tournament activation.
Juan Agualimpia, MoneyGram’s chief marketing officer, said: ‘cricket is among the largest sports attractions in countries that rely on remittances, including Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka. It is a huge part of the lives of millions of our customers’.
Radar Sponsorship’s managing partner, Jamie Dean, who is leading the project said: ‘MoneyGram’s ambition is to quickly become a credible sponsor of cricket, so the winning team had to impress with solid cricket credentials, an understanding of their business and the ability to call on an international footprint’.
MoneyGram International has signed a five-year agreement (2011-2015) with the ICC and is the ‘official money transfer’ partner of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
The tournament starts on Saturday 19th February and will last for six weeks with the final taking place on the 2nd April.
