Both have extensive global experience of leading brands’ marketing strategies and sport sponsorships. Wheldon has held senior positions on both sides of the marketing fence, starting his successful career working in advertising agencies before moving to Coca-Cola as the global director and VP of advertising based in Atlanta. Wheldon’s extensive experience includes his influential time at Vodafone, holding numerous posts including global brand director. When he joined Vodafone it was struggling to make a list of the top 100 most valuable brands in the world; when he left it was the 5th. Wheldon then moved to Barclays as managing director of brand, reputation and citizenship helping to rebuild trust with the customers at a difficult time for the bank. In July 2015, Wheldon moved to his current position as chief marketing officer for RBS.

Fourie joined Nissan in 1994 in his native South Africa and later relocated to work in Japan at the company’s headquarters, taking on responsibility for brand management, advertising, and sponsorships in emerging markets. In 2011 he was promoted to his current role as general manager of global brand strategy and management and continued to work from Japan until his relocation to London in August 2013. Fourie is responsible for Nissan’s global brand strategy, working with teams in markets around the world to bring Nissan’s brand position to life. In the last 18 months he has helped to create global partnerships, including teaming up with the UEFA Champions League.

So far in 2015 the Sport Industry Breakfast Club has seen the president of the Union Cycliste Internationale Brian Cookson; CEO of World Rugby Brett Gosper; football icon Gianluca Vialli; Aston Villa CEO Tom Fox and international cricketer Kevin Pietersen share their views with the industry audience.

The Sport Industry Breakfast Club is the industry’s number one networking event series with four content-led networking breakfasts over the course of the year. Find out more here.
